Tarantara! was born from the current successes of musical theatre based on the works of Abba, Queen, the Four Seasons. It seemed timely to collect together many of the favourite pieces from Gilbert & Sullivan for such a celebration of their works.
The Book takes a close look at the vitriolic relationship that existed between Gilbert the lyricist and Sullivan the composer, not to overlook their impresario D’Oyly Carte. It is a wonder that anything was achieved by the team given their regular spats and irregular work patterns – but they delivered some of the most memorable material of course.
The Book uses the tactic of creating a meeting between D’Oyly Carte and George Bernard Shaw, later to be joined by Oscar Wilde to discuss the duo and their issues. However with stagecraft we also see the correspondence between G&S as they lived through their most successful financial partnership.
I am seeking an impresario to stage this
